The Aurora Borealis, and Hidden Energy

The Aurora Boralis, or the Northern Lights, were visible, and present, over parts of Britain this weekend, because a geomagnetic storm drove the aurora structure south, very unusually. The scientific explanation for the Aurora Borealis is that, when atoms in the Earth’s atmosphere collide with particles from the Sun, shimmering green particles of light are produced:  three days ago a solar eruption caused a cloud of charged gas to move towards Earth, resulting in this very rare occurrence for Britain.
